The history of May Tai
The history of May Tai goes back to the 1940s and is closely connected to his creator Vic Bergeron, the owner of a Tiki restaurant.

According to legend, Vic prepared a cocktail for his Tahitian friends, who tried him and then wrapped it out: "Maitai’i Roa a’e", which means something like "extraterrestrial". Bergeron then called his new cocktail "Mai Tai", the Tahitian word for "the best".
